Guide to giving & getting involved

Parent engagement
As a parent or guardian, you play a vital role in shaping the Gonzaga Prep school experience—not only for your own child, but for every student who walks our halls. During your time at Prep, you will have many opportunities to get involved, whether by volunteering, attending events and gatherings, or offering financial support. Your participation has a lasting impact, and we appreciate all that you do for this community. Together, we ensure that Gonzaga Prep continues to thrive—for our students today and for generations to come.

The Annual Fund
THE ANNUAL FUND
Provides essential funding to supplement our annual operating budget not covered by tuition. We ask all families to support the annual fund with a goal of 100% participation. You will receive outreach from the school and grade-level volunteers encouraging your support starting in the fall. All gifts, regardless of size, are meaningful and make a difference.

Student-driven fundraisers
STUDENT-DRIVEN FUNDRAISERS
Students fundraise for their specific sports, clubs, and extracurricular activities throughout the year. Gifts help fund additional program costs, travel and gear not covered by the school’s operating budget. These fundraising efforts are managed by students who reach out to their extended network and family.

Volunteer program
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Gonzaga Prep has always valued the time, talent, and treasure so generously shared by families. The volunteer program is a vibrant expression of service that builds community in support of the school. We invite every family to share their time and talents—20 hours a year. More information on specific opportunities will be shared via email and we ask all families to track and log their hours in PowerSchool.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is parent participation so important?
Each year, Gonzaga Prep receives annual gifts that range from $10 to more than $40,000. While large leadership level gifts are crucial to the school’s financial stability, gifts of every size add up and have a significant impact. Our goal is to have 100% parent/guardian participation in the Annual Fund each year which sends a powerful message to the greater community.

I already pay tuition, so why am I asked to donate as well?
Your gift supports the people and programs that make Gonzaga Prep unique. Gifts are critical because tuition alone does not cover all the opportunities your child receives at Prep.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Gonzaga Prep is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. The school’s Federal Tax ID is 91-0639299.

Can we direct our gift to a specific area?
Yes. While unrestricted gifts provide the most flexibility and allow the school to address immediate needs, we also welcome restricted gifts for specific programs, scholarships, or initiatives, subject to approval by the school.

Why am I being asked to give multiple times a year?
Different fundraising initiatives serve different purposes. We strive to be mindful of how often we ask for support, and you’re never obligated to give to every campaign—though each contribution makes a difference.

How much am I expected to give?
We ask every family to participate at a level that is meaningful and comfortable for them. While some families give larger gifts, many give smaller amounts. Every contribution matters, and high participation also strengthens our case when applying for grants or seeking support from outside donors.

Who do I contact if I have questions about getting involved?
Prep has a team of people who are committed to helping align your interests with school priorities.
