ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS

Prep teachers are gifted educators, experts in their fields, and take a personal interest in each student. By their own example, our teachers challenge and support students with intentional and proven college prep curriculum. Faculty develop relationships with students that demand their best efforts, helping them see and achieve their fullest potential, producing students who are critical thinkers, creative problem-solvers, and collaborative learners.

Our challenging and rigorous curriculum is taught in the framework of the five educational principles of the Ignatian pedagogical paradigm: context, experience, reflection, action and evaluation. In our academic departments, faculty are deeply committed to serve as model persons for others both in and out of the classroom.

English — Strives to create readers, writers, speakers, and philosophers able to think CRITICALLY & REFLECTIVELY and to act in responsible, tolerant, and enlightened ways.

Fine Arts — Cultivate creative and critical THINKERS, ARTISTS, PARTICIPANTS, and patrons in the arts. We encourage the exploration of values, attitudes, and standards through the arts.

Math — Lead students to a DEEPER UNDERSTANDING of the patterns of God’s creation and teach important MATHEMATICAL CONCEPTS and procedures through active, guided discovery.

Occupational Education — With the belief that cura personalis is important to the development of Ignatian leaders, students are given OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP self-sufficiency and lifelong interests.

Physical Education — Instill a knowledge, understanding, & appreciation for unified functioning of BODY & MIND.

Science — Explore, apply, and integrate science, technology, and engineering to DISCOVER ORIGINAL SOLUTIONS to complex scientific problems.

Social Studies — Promote investigation of and reflection on the accumulated KNOWLEDGE & DIVERSE EXPERIENCE of human societies, fostering an understanding of and appreciation for the past.

Theology — Provide the INTELLECTUAL & SPIRITUAL preparation necessary to become Christian leaders in service to others. Students learn discernment as an essential part of prayer life.

World Languages — Develop an ability to function in a foreign culture by employing and understanding EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION through the spoken and written word.
