drive time whatever you need Okay so here I come take a prep so we'll start off with add to my name is mrs. long I work with freshmen and sophomores who have last names starting with h Ruel so fortunate I didn't you guys but I am here if you need anything. I graduated from prep dish towels helping you guys navigate to your waist little bit about me to I'm as you can probably see I don't have a one and a half year old daughter her name is Winnie to come in my office will see pictures of her plastered everywhere we have a name for this little boy so if anybody has any idea is a great boy names let me know about me and then mrs. Mason is right so you guys are the lucky ones that get two of us at so we dropped their IP although she is home with her new baby so she won't be back until after Thanksgiving so if you need anything the first part of the year and I have three kids and my daughter Ella is going to be a junior Toys R Us so mrs. Mason and mrs. long or starting their house before I know it okay so what do we do Applebee's on my mentor if you have okay so what we find as you enter into High School some of you maybe have never counselor or if you have admit it looks a little bit different here so today we do a lot of different things on campus but they seem to All Fall within these three categories the first are your academic guys so when you registered for classes are you probably meant do that if you want to talk about what you're interested in what areas of school you really excel in your individual schedule for you also related to that you guys are all going to start to actually go to classes next week and if there's a class that you're having the trouble with maybe you've started with an honors course that wants to get in your eyes or the opposite happens where you start of course and see if there's any wiggle room or moving around after the first week is a little bit harder because everyone's kind of in a group so you want to identify that early on and let her go also related to academics shooter really were just there to help you problem-solve anything that has to do it the next College and Career mentors so we all know that. that doesn't mean it's freshman you're going to figure out exactly what college you're applying to and what major is going to have to get there so you just want you to know that over the next 4 years old where's my Pinterest lastly is a personal social contract we're just here to be your people we want to be a trusted adult for you in the building we know that there is more to your life then what happens inside these classroom walls you have relationships you have friendships and sometimes life is a little messy we guarantee that over the next four years will probably only show me the people that are there to help you about talking with a is it was called confidentiality big word for privacy so if you come down and talk to me about something you're going through she's going to keep that private between she's not going to share that way your teachers and classmates work until your parents space for you to process and really have somebody to lean on talk to you with a non-judgmental here the only time we ever have to break that company and we always tell you say hey I'm worried about your safety so I'm going to talk to me turn off all of our conversations are private which is just nice for you to know that I'm getting of a trusted adult who wants to help okay so now that you know all the awesome things and services that we provide for your test on how you find them straight down the hall and take a left right into the Counseling Center so that's where you can find all of our off of it so it's your probably the best way to get in touch with me this year at least one more so send me an email let me know you want to talk we can set up a zoom or an in-person meeting that way and we will also find you during the year we will go to your freshman seminar class we will schedule a one-on-one on innerduct can sometimes be too big. please email me hopefully I know the answer is not I can certainly okay so the second part of this presentation you know you've been hearing from a lot of adults and you can hear from your leaders a little bit so pleeter for questions MP3 through vents after the first one is how do you and your classmates utilize account advice you have for me so who wants to tackle that first one when you guys utilize your confidence. can I get a deal on my forces the plants are the boys after suggestion I was like hey do you think I can get in this class cuz she saw my grades or now that we're seniors big thing that mean okay what is one piece of advice you guys may have I advise actually on your counselor so I didn't know that we could go for them to them for anything such as anything you need to talk to you about anyone and you don't have anyone else to talk to you for your help we love it say hi shots usually have candy so if you yeah and he's having a hard day if you just got tell us something great that's going on about your day too okay like it might like but start the school year I was getting the key in that like my grades are always up and start and then the buy like the time you start going online last spring it is like that's what I started tired of seeing a little bit my grades are slipping will it affect me one online I got to like nature Nature's what are the question about online that we've been hearing today how did you guys navigate if you haven't about an assignment or how to submit assignment if you're at home by yourself but you got question what are you doing okay last one does anybody remember a fear or source of anxiety you had before your first day of school at friend that was kind of worried about it TriMet pass in super speed if you're having issues like really talk to them and they will work with you or like another thing I was scared out. they really good like if you want come to 5 minutes early before school and then back out understanding oh yeah so I think literally every leader has said. And they all laughed about it
