Department Mission Statement

The English Department promotes the study of literature and communication as vehicles for understanding the complexities of human experience: individual and social, cultural and historical, moral and spiritual. In accordance with the Jesuit Mission, the department strives to form readers, writers, and speakers who can think critically and reflect and act in responsible, just, and enlightened ways.
