Department Goals

 
I. Communication (Written and Oral)
  • Students will be able to communicate effectively through various modes of written and oral expression for different audiences, situations, and purposes. 
  • Students will understand and be able to employ the terminology of written and oral communication. 
  • Students will expand their vocabulary skills. 
  • Students will understand and be able to employ the five-step writing process. 
  • Students will be able to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of their own and others’ written and oral communication
  • Students will be able to analyze and evaluate the correctness of their own and others’ written and oral communication.
  • Students will be attentive and respectful members of an audience. 
  • Students will be able to conduct research effectively using a variety of resources.

II. Literature
  • Students will explore, experience, and reflect on a comprehensive range of the world’s thoughts, ideas, and experiences.
