Washington, D.C.
Since 2013, I am a professor at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at George Washington University in Washington, DC. I lecture on world dress and textiles, 18th- and 19th-century costume, 20th-century fashion, as well as on dance and theatre history and design. I am also working on my PhD at the University of Roehampton in London. The focus of my dissertation is the evolution of ballet in Britain and interwar costume and set design. I spent 2019 in London and the summers of 2015 to 2018 researching in theatre and performance archives in the United Kingdom and Russia. I am an active member of the Costume Society of America, where I serve as the treasurer of my region, and I co-chaired our 2020 national symposium in New York City. When not teaching or writing, I love spending time with my husband, John, and our two cats, Josephine and Don Tommasino, and with our families and friends at our home in Miami Beach.
