Gonzaga Prep is seeking a mission-centered, visionary leader with a demonstrated record of success in leading established academic institutions. Prior to the launch of our permanent president search, an interim leader has been launched.

What is the timeline for the president search?
We are conducting a thorough and thoughtful search, and we look forward to welcoming our next President by or before ...

summer 2027. The application window will be open throughout the summer and early fall of 2026, with candidate interviews taking place later in the fall. From there, the Search Committee will bring forward its recommendations in winter 2026, with our goal of having a contract signed by early 2027. We are hopeful we may be able to welcome new leadership even sooner, and we will keep our community informed as the process unfolds.  

The Interim Search Committee (ISC) is actively engaged in the search process and anticipates making a recommendation to the Board of Directors by mid-June.  See below for more detailed updates from the ISC.

GOVERNANCE
What is the relationship between the President Search Committee and the Board of Directors?
The Board of Directors selected and charged the Search Committee with the significant responsibility of conducting a thorough search ...

and bringing forward a final candidate recommendation. The President Search Committee, made up of board members, school leadership, and community representatives, will lead the day-to-day work of the search, from gathering community input to evaluating candidates. Once the committee has completed its process and identified its top candidate or candidates, that recommendation will be brought before the full Board of Directors for a final vote. This structure ensures that the search is both thorough and collaborative.

can lead our school with stability and continuity in the near term, while the permanent search committee is conducting the process of finding the right long-term leader for our community. Having two dedicated committees allows each group to focus on what matters most for their respective roles. As the governing body responsible for hiring the President, the Board of Directors selects the members of both committees, ensuring thoughtful and accountable leadership throughout both the interim and permanent president search processes.

This addition helps ensure broad representation and perspective as the committee continues its important work. Additionally, in an effort to be thoughtful and intentional throughout the interview and discernment process, the ISC has extended the interview timeline. The committee now anticipates bringing a recommendation to the Board of Directors by mid-June.

Interim search committee members named

As part of our commitment to keeping the Gonzaga Prep community informed throughout the presidential search process, we would like to share a brief update on recent progress and decisions made by the Board of Directors. We are grateful to the members of the Interim Search Committee who have agreed to serve in this important role:

The Interim Search Committee has begun its work and will continue moving through the application review and screening process in the weeks ahead, with the goal of providing a recommendation to the Board in early June. Candidates may submit resume and letter of intent to [email protected] by May 18, 2026.


In addition, the Board made two important clarifications this week regarding the search process:

  1. Current Gonzaga Prep employees who meet the qualifications are eligible to apply for both the interim president position and the permanent president position.
  2. Qualified individuals who apply for or serve in the interim president role may also be considered for the permanent president position.

These decisions reflect the Board’s desire to conduct a fair and thoughtful search process that encourages strong candidates from both within and outside the Gonzaga Prep community.

Interim president search underway
The interim president will play a vital role in supporting Gonzaga Prep's progress while we conduct a thoughtful and thorough search for our next permanent president. An Interim Search Committee, chaired by Rev. Tom Lamanna, S.J. `81, along with members of our leadership team and Board of Directors, will guide this process throughout the month of May. To help ensure a smooth and timely transition, the committee is proactively reaching out to potential candidates. Those who feel called to serve in this interim role are invited to submit a resume and letter of intent to the Search Committee at [email protected] by May 18.

More information will be forthcoming, including a President Prospectus and application details on the process and timing of our permanent President Search and Committee.
