For the first time in school history, Gonzaga Prep has won the 4A classification of the WIAA Scholastic Cup, earning 1,742 points, 106 more than runner-up Lincoln High School in Seattle.

“It is a testament to our students; they are exceptional both in the classroom and in the athletic arena,” says Vice Principal for Athletics and Facilities Paul Manfred. Our students understand the hard work it takes to balance their studies and push themselves toward excellence in their craft.”

The award recognizes performance in the classroom and on the playing surface. Schools that finish at the top of their respective classifications in state athletic competition receive points, as do schools that finish at the top in team academic performance.

This year, the Bullups were academic state champs in band, winter cheer, boys track and field, and volleyball. Teams were runners-up in baseball, boys basketball, football, girls tennis, and girls track and field. On the field, Pups were runners-up in baseball, boys basketball, boys cross country, and wrestling.

Prep has earned a top-5 finish 5 times, finishing second once and third twice.
