Gonzaga Prep is pleased to announce that Julie McCulloh has been selected to serve as Interim President of the school.
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work for and with the Gonzaga Prep community in the year ahead,” she says. “As we navigate this leadership transition, we remain grounded in our mission—educating students in the Gospel tradition and inspiring leaders committed to building a more just and loving world. I look forward to working, learning, and growing together.”
McCulloh brings more than 30 years of leadership experience at Gonzaga University, most recently as vice provost for Enrollment Management. In that role, she led teams across admission, financial aid, student financial services, continuing education, and global engagement.
McCulloh’s ties to Gonzaga Prep run deep: She is a longtime professional colleague, a former member of the board of directors, a former board chair. She also co-chaired the presidential search that brought outgoing president Michael Dougherty to Gonzaga Prep, which provides in-depth understanding of the responsibility and care required during a leadership transition.
She and her husband, Thayne, are parents of three Gonzaga Prep alumnae.
She will be the first female president—interim or otherwise—in the school's 140-year history, a fitting milestone as Gonzaga Prep concludes a year commemorating 50 years of coeducation.
“This decision was made with great care,” says Board Chair Jim Brasch. “The committee engaged in a process rooted in Ignatian discernment, prayer, and honest conversation about what Gonzaga Prep needs during this transitional year.”
McCullough will begin serving as interim president in August, spending her first months listening, learning, and building relationships across the community. Her work during this transitional year will be to provide steady leadership, support the leadership team, sustain trust across the community, and help prepare Gonzaga Prep for its next permanent president.
