The Latin translation for Omnia is "in everything." We chose to title our student art showcase Omnia to remind our students to search for art in all they do, said Katelyn Stiller, Gonzaga Prep art teacher. Stillar, who organized the show along with other fine arts teachers Katie Hall and Matt Boyle.

 

"I think a testament to our department is our students transferring their skills to other areas of their life. Be it other coursework, presentations, retreat materials, our yearbook, or personal entrepreneurial ventures," Stillar said.

 

Two of the award-winning students at this year's show are not currently taking an art class, but submitted photography that they took over the past year for their own enjoyment. "This is what it is all about. Instilling in our students a love for the craft of creating and finding art 'in everything.' 

 

Visual Arts is often a quiet, behind-the scenes-world; under-recognized, but always appreciated. We hope Omnia will continue to be an annual event that brings attention to the talented artists in our community.
