Debate Team

Timberwolf InvitationalSophia McFarland and Griffin Satterfield
Bullpup debaters took a short drive east to Coeur d'Alene to compete in their first tournament of the fall. Gonzaga Prep was among 10 schools and more than 200 students who faced off in the Timberwolf Invitational at Lake City High School.

Big congratulations to these Pups:

» Seniors Griffin Satterfield and Sophia McFarland placed first in the Varsity division of Public Forum debate.
» Senior Max Johnson qualified for the championship round in the Varsity division of Impromptu speech.
» Four students competed in Varsity events for the first time!

Mission: Debate teaches students to learn and have fun while competing in public speaking events. Debaters learn research, organizational, and argumentative skills. We compete in speech and debate events including Policy Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, Congressional Debate, and many more individual speech events. A successful debater graduates from our program better prepared for college, job interviews, and life.

A Tradition of Excellence:

Gonzaga Prep is the only school in the State of Washington to have won three National Championships in Speech and Debate. No other Washington School has won more than one. Gonzaga Prep has also won multiple state and GSL titles.
