when Prep senior August Corppetts was named the 2017 Spokane Lilac Festival's "Celebrating Our Heros" Queen!  In front of a large crowd at Shadle Park High School, August gave a inspiring speech about the discrimination and bullying she's faced all her life, but how that's given her a voice - for herself and for others - and has led to her dream of being a civil rights lawyer.  August received a scholarship for making court, a matching scholarship for being named Queen, and she won 3 additional scholarships given out by the Festival.  Read the article in the Spokesman Review HERE.
