APRIL 29
Last week, the boys lacrosse team started off with a win over Glacier (MT). Christian Preti was 76 percent on face-offs with 17 ground balls. Kannon Atwood had 5 goals as well as 3 assists. Then, in the GSL championship game vs. Mt. Spokane, Prep won 17-13. Carter Vallaincort had 4 goals and 3 assists. Teammate Leo Anderson added 5 goals.

Girls lacrosse finished the season strong Saturday morning in their game against Richland. Sophomore Syri Santillanes tallied 3 goals and 1 assist, and freshman Ella Crocker added 3 goals and 3 assists to secure the victory.

In golf, the boys tied for first place in their last GSL match. Dillon Schrock led the way with a 74, followed by 77s from Johnny Doree, John Malsam, and Matthew Hughes. At the Palouse Ridge Invitational, the team tied for 4th. Individual scores improved there—Dillon shot a 73, while Johnny and John finished with 74s. The girls took 2nd last week with a standout performance by Maira Frank.

The girls tennis team played Lewis & Clark on Wednesday. Macarena Barreto and Abigail Stewart won in singles. In doubles, Emma Sandberg and Jane Schlegel won 6-6. At the Inland Empire Tournament this weekend, Devyn Pirwitz was the consolation bracket champion for No. 2 singles.

The Track team had its third GSL match last week. Henry Mudd placed 3rd in the 200. Nikko Alexander and Alexander Scott finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the 400. Zach Frazier was 2nd in the 3200. Riley Sarff was 2nd in hurdles. Nic Capri was 1st in triple jump and Andy Agada was 3rd in high jump. For the girls, Aylah Cornwall was 1st in the 100, the long jump, and the triple jump. Natalie Wright was 1st in the 400. Claire Gee was 2nd in the 800. Karolina Flanagan and Laura Thompson were 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the high jump.

In fastpitch, Kennedy Ritter had a great week with a .571 batting average in their two games. Senior night is against CV on Friday, so please come out and show your support!

Baseball went 3-0 last week with 2 wins over Central Valley and the third over University. In game one against CV, Anthony Karis went 3-4 with a home run and two doubles. In game two, the team racked up 12 hits and won 13-3. Hunter Derr and Jaden Sarto both went 2-3. Then, versus U-Hi, the team won 4-1. Andy Sage earned the win, and Adam Sodorff had the save.

Finally, in boys soccer news: Phoenix Sandbo and Alex Wood both scored in a 2-1 victory over University last wednesday. Both also converted their PK in a shootout win over Cheney 4-2 in the last regular season game. The team's next game is Districts at Chiawana this Thursday at 5 p.m.
 
APRIL 22
This weekend, girls lacrosse traveled to the West Side for two tough opponents in Bishop Blanchet and Snolax. Newest to the midfield crew, Molly Gross stepped in and led, collecting multiple draw controls. Defensive efforts were strong from Molly McCabe, Maddy Corns, and Bella McCabe. On offense, Ella Crocker posted stats in all columns with multiple goals.

Last week, the boys' tennis team had two wins, first over Cheney and then over Lewis & Clark. The Bullpups swept all matches, led by Tiernan Waggoner and Jack Bragg in singles and the doubles teams of Ethan Hatzke/Luke Lemberg and Tanner Bergstedt/Lucas Wehr.

Girls tennis had three matches last week and took home victories over Cheney and North Central. Against Cheney, no team dropped a single set, and Annie Camp came away with a 6-1, 6-0 victory, while Devyn Pirwitz beat her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Against Mt. Spokane, Annie and Devyn had huge, come-from-behind wins.

In fastpitch news, the team had three games last week including a win over NC 23-14. In that game, Zoey Rastall went 6 for 6 and hit for the cycle. Against Ferris, Reese Jones-Ross went 3-4, with all three hits being home runs, and Jaden Jones-Ross added two home runs herself. On the week, Emma DeLeon went 10-15, with 2 doubles, 2 triples, and 2 home runs.

Baseball team went 3-0 last week, outscoring their opponents 31-4. Against NC, Quinn Derzay earned the win and was helped by Hunter Derr, who went 2-3 with 2 RBIs. In the series versus Lewis & Clark, Connor Wood picked up the first win on the mound and Luke Brown got the second, striking out 11 on Friday. At the plate, Mikey Funaro homered and Briggs Beaudoin went 3 for 3 on Tuesday.

For girls golf, Lisette Durkin led the team to a 3rd-place finish at the Northcutt Invitational on Friday. The boys also earned 3rd and were led by Gavin Damon and John Malsam.

The track and field team competed at the Mooberry Relays at Rogers this weekend. Our boys' 4000-meter relay team of Zach Frazier, Preston Yim, Noah Martinet, and Scotty McIntyre placed third. For the girls, Claire Gee placed third in the 3200-meter relay.

On soccer senior night, Phoenix Sandbo propelled the boys soccer team to a win over NC 2-1 with an early goal. Colton Kelley helped seal the game with another goal later in the first half.
 
APRIL 15
Last week, track had had meet at Mead (vs. Ferris and U-Hi too). For the boys, Nikko Alexander placed 1st in the 200 and 2nd in the 100. Scotty McIntyre placed 2nd in the 3200 and Zach Frazier finished 3rd in the 800. Nehemiah Areta was 3rd in the discus. In the long jump, the Bullpups took the first 4 spots—Nic Capri placed 1st, Preston Yim 2nd, Jeager Grimsby 3rd, and Jacobe MccClelland 4th.

For the girls, Aylah Cornwall finished 1st in the 100, long jump, and triple jump while Kaylin McMahon was 2nd in the 200 and 3rd in long jump. Natalie Wright and Jolina Olson placed 1st and 2nd, respectively in the 400. Sydney McLean was 2nd in the 800 and 1600. And in high jump, Laura Thompson placed 3rd. Both teams compete at Ridgeline this Thursday. 

The boys lacrosse team beat No. 7 Bellarmine Prep 18-15 on Saturday and followed it up with a win over Bishop Blanchet Sunday, 15-7. Goalkeeper Kwn Mathieson had a 45 percent and 50 percent save rate against these teams, respectively. Between the two games, Kanon Atwood had 7 goals and 7 assists and Carter Valliancourt had 8 goals and 5 assists. They host Mt. Spokane on Thursday.

Girls lacrosse defeated the Big Cats with a dominant win last Tuesday at Mt Spokane. Sophomore goalie Sophia Schwab had her best game of the season posting a 71 percent save rate on the night. Junior Elle Dahle put in a hat trick for the team and sophomore Alese Spakousky had 5 caused turnovers. They play at Sandpoint on Wednesday.

Baseball won 2 out of 3 last week, beating Ridgeline on the road 10-3 and North Central on Friday 17-3. In their win versus Ridgeline, Hunter Derr got things rolling with a solo home run and Jaxon Buckner had two hits, including a grand slam to left field. Andy Sage got the win on the mound against North Central. Jaden Sarto and Jonah Keller both had 2 RBIs in that one. They play at NC Tuesday.
 
MARCH 18
Last week, Bullpup golf team got things off to a great start. On Monday, Lisette Durkin shot a 78 and the following day, finished one under 80 at Walla Walla Country Club. For the boys, John Malsam shot a 74 and Dillon Schrock a 75 at Wine Valley. Dillon was also named to the two-day all tournament team.

On Tuesday, the boys soccer team beat North Central 3-2 and Ridgeline 2-1. Goalkeeper Sparrow Richards won the shootout in both, saving 2 vs NC and 1 against Ridgeline. Despite falling to Bellarmine over the weekend, Colton Kelly has scored in all three games. The team hosts Mt. Spokane on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the baseball team lost to Lake City, but had 10 hits on the afternoon. Jaden Sarto led the Bullpups with a single and a double in four at bats. They play Ferris on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

On Friday, the debate team had six students competing at the State Debate Tournament. Max Brodigan competed in Congress. Freshmen Berkley Hestdalen and Creighton Condon went 2-4 in Public Forum, while the team of Simon Yan, Jacob Berger, and Gabby Gamon placed 19th overall.

On Saturday, the girls softball team played Skyview in the Tri Cities. The team lost, but Lydia Tamrat got her first career base hit. They will host North Central tomorrow afternoon.

Over the weekend, the bowling team competed in the Regional Invitational Tournament at Players and Spectators. Over 100 bowlers from Eastern Washington and North Idaho competed in this two-day tournament. All 16 Prep players bowled above their average for the weekend. The highlights of the tournament included: Most Inspirational Team Award to Team 1 in Division 2 and Team 3 in Division 3. Individual awards went to Savannah Roark and Julianna Miner who placed 1st in Division 3 Doubles, Peyton Hoover placed 3rd in Division 3 Singles, and Tiernan Waggoner placed 2nd in Division 3 Singles. Senior Kevin McArdle-Silvers completed his four years of bowling for Prep with a career-high game of 210.
 
MARCH 11
Last week, the spring season kicked off with the varsity golf teams traveling to the Tri-Cities. For the girls at Horn Rapids, Lisette Durkin shot an 84, placing her 4th out of 64 golfers. For the Bullpup boys, Dillon Schrock shot a 71 at Zentel Creek, and tied for second place. The team is competing at Walla Walla Monday.

The baseball team played a doubleheader in Yakima on Saturday. The Pups won both, first vs. Seattle Prep 6-5. Hunter Derr led the way with 3 RBIs and Grant Yost added two hits, including an RBI double. In the second game, they bested Coeur d'Alene 13-0. Nate Moinette went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and Connor Wood earned the win on the mound. Their next game is at Lake City on Wednesday.

Lastly, the debate team traveled to the University of Puget Sound for the State speech tournament this weekend. Eleven Gonzaga Prep students competed across 4 events. Sophomore Ari Everitt placed 8th in Oratory Speaking and junior Simon Yan placed 8th in Informative and 3rd in the state for Extemporaneous Speaking. Congratulations to all of our competitors on an impressive turnout!
MARCH 4

First up: Senior Kwynci Peters made the Spokane Lilac Festival Court. 17 young women from area schools were vying for just 7 spots on the court. Kwynci took part in three months of weekly training followed by interviews last week to earn a place on this year’s court. Well done, princess Kwynci! Next up: the April 13th coronation where one of the seven will be named Lilac Queen. Gonzaga Prep is proud of you Kwynci!

On Sunday the Bowl Pups had their final match before the Regional Invitational Tournament on March 16 and 17 at Players and Spectators. New Personal bests were set by Tiernan Waggoner with a 149, Reese Lempka with a 147, and Madeline Adams with a 142. The high game for the boys was Parker Ebel with a 227 and for the girls Savannah Roark with a 168.

Meanwhile, in the Tacoma Dome last weekend, boys basketball finished their incredible season with a top 8 finish in state. In their first matchup at the Tacoma Dome against Glacier Peak, the team lost a close one 58-64. Henry Sandberg led the way in scoring with 21, and Nate Christy contributed a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Then, in their loser-out game versus Kentwood, the boys fell 49-54. Still, major contributions were made by Nate, who scored 27 points, Keagan Savage, who had 10, and Ryan Jackson who added 10 points and 3 offensive rebounds. The team was also named 4A academic state champs. Congratulations on an amazing run, boys basketball!

Finally, let's celebrate the outstanding achievements of the girls basketball team in the 4A State tournament, which secured second place by punching above their weight in every round leading up to the title game. In their first-round game against Lake Stevens, the girls triumphed with a 49-46 victory. Aylah Cornwall delivered an outstanding performance with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Quinn Pederson added 9 points and 7 rebounds. In the quarterfinals, the team outplayed second-ranked Woodinville with a 50-44 win. Olivia McIntyre contributed 14 points, and Julia Few showcased her skills with 9 rebounds and 3 assists. The semifinal matchup versus Davis made for another memorable moment, with a 67-60 victory. Aylah dominated with 24 points and 10 rebounds, Olivia contributed 21 points, and Gillian Bears added 17 points and 9 rebounds. Though they faced a tough challenge in the championship game against top-seed Camas, our girls team displayed tremendous resilience and fought hard until the end, ultimately losing 57-41. Let's congratulate this team on an incredible season! We are immensely proud of their accomplishments.
 
FEBRUARY 26

Over the weekend, Bullpup boys and girls basketball teams played in the first round of the 4A state tournament.

On Friday, the boys beat Federal Way 62-40 at Central Valley High School. Brogan Howell scored 15 points, Nate Christy added 12, and the team secured a first-round bye at the Tacoma Dome this week. Their first game will be Thursday at 7:15 p.m. vs. the winner of Camas and Glacier Peak. Special shout-out to the boys, who were named 4A academic state champs and will be honored on Saturday of the state tourney.

On Saturday the girls traveled to the West Side for a matchup against top-ranked Camas at Battle Ground High School. The Pups lost 53-31, Ayla Cornwell leading Bullpup scorers with 13 points. Next up is an elimination game Wednesday at the Tacoma Dome vs. Lake Stevens at 2 p.m.

FEBRUARY 19

Prep’s Varsity Knowledge Bowl and defending state 4A champions secured the regional 4A berth by defeating Lewis & Clark at Regionals on Friday and are headed to the State Championship. They also earned the highest written score at Regionals and placed 4th overall. Varsity team members are Caroline Saint James, Henry Mudd, Jacob Sarkis, Spencer Bergstedt, Evelyn Kelly and, David Thorp, Ellie Kladar, all from the class of 2025. Coaches Taryn League and Bradley Sauvé will head to Wenatchee with the team next month.

Last week, the boys and girls basketball teams also qualified for the 4A State Tournament in Tacoma.

The boys team punched its ticket first with a big win over Richland, 69-64, in the District Championship game; securing the title. Our team was well-balanced all night: Henry Sandberg scored 20, Nate Christy had 15, Dylynn Groves 13, and Ryan Jackson and Brogan Howell each put up 11 points. The Pups play Federal Way at 6 p.m. Friday at Central Valley High School for a first-round bye.

The girls followed it up with a huge win of their own against Chiawana on Saturday, 51-50 in overtime. Aylah Cornwall scored 26 and Olivia McIntyre added 11 points. Both Julia Few and Laura Thompson contributed outstanding defense all night. The team travels to top-ranked Camas this week for a seeding game on Saturday. Tip-off is at 4 p.m.

Finally, five of Bullpup wrestlers competed at the 35th annual Mat Classic state tournament last weekend. Colton O'Connor, Sam Kincaid, Lawrence Jackson, and William Jackson performed very well and Noah Holman secured a 7th-place finish. Congratulations to our wrestling team and coaches on a great season.

FEBRUARY 12

Last week, Bullpups girls and boys basketball teams played AND WON three games apiece. On Tuesday's senior night slate vs. Ferris, the girls got it done 69-47, on 20-point nights from both Olivia McIntyre and Aylah Cornwall. The boys earned a hard-fought 56-51 win on Nate Christy's 20-point night. In the first round of district playoffs, the basketball teams took on the Hanford Falcons. The girls cruised to a 64-25 win with 19 points from Aylah, 12 from Olivia, and 11 from Gillian Bears--all in just three quarters of play. In the boys game, Keagan Savage's 18 points and another 10 from Brogan Howell helped propel the team to a 78-35 win. On Saturday, the boys had another easy win, this time over Kamiakin, 70-38. Dylynn Groves led the way with 19 points. The girls followed it up with a 40-37 win over Chiawana. Aylah had 20 points. Both teams travel to the Tri Cities on Tuesday for the district championship game: The boys play at Richland, and the girls play at Kamiakin.

Over the weekend, the wrestling team traveled to Mt. Si High School for the regional tournament. Five of Bullpup wrestlers are moving onto the State meet next week: regional winners Lawrence Jackson and Noah Holman, as well as Colton O'Connor, Sam Kincaid, and William Jackson.

In Knowledge Bowl news, our five teams wrapped up their Inland Empire League competitions. Our JV 1 team consisting of Ben Kapaun, Declan Donahue, Marcus Lauth, Kameron Pitts, Nolan Lemberg, and Stefan Schegel earned 3rd place in the JV division of over 26 teams. Varsity 1 earned 5th place from over 22 teams around Washington and Idaho and also placed 1st in the written round. Ellie Kladar, Caroline Saint James, Henry Mudd, Evelyn Kelly, Jacob Sarkis, David Thorp and Spencer Bergstedt will compete at Regionals next Friday to try to earn a 4A spot to the State Championship in March.

Last Saturday, our debate team competed at the District 7 and 8 tournament at North Central. In debate events, Simon Yan, Ari Everitt, Gabby Gamon, and Max Brodigan qualified for state. In speech, Simon, Ari, Anthony DeGon, Grant Von Buchwaldt, Ian McComas, Sully Rowe, Macarena Barreto, Wyatt Lee, and Izzi Hydzik qualified for state.

The band spent Saturday on the Eastern Washington University campus and worked with faculty to perform a piece with Texas A&M Corpus Christie's Dr. Iyescas later that evening.

Bullpup chess took second place in the GSL Team Chess Tournament last Friday. Congratulations to junior John Malsam, freshman Shane Shumaker, and sophomores Rachel Price, Parker Ebel, Preston Le, and Josh Dwonch.
 
FEBRUARY 5

Last week, Bullpup boys and girls basketball teams secured the No. 1 seed in their district tournaments. The boys got things started with a win over Ridgeline 71-60. Henry Sandberg led scoring with 21 points. Then, against Mead on Friday, they won 73-59 behind an incredible 33 points from Henry. On the girls side, the team beat Ridgeline 65-53. Aylah Cornwall scored 21 in that one. Despite a loss to Mead a few days later - where Aylah scored 16 and Olivia McIntyre added 14 - the team looks ahead to their game versus Ferris tomorrow at 7 for Senior night. The boys team will honor their seniors Tuesday evening as well, just before their 5:30 p.m. tipoff.

Over the weekend, two of our debate teams competed at the Thomas Foley Memorial Tournament at University High School. Simon Yan placed 3rd in Extemporaneous Speech, prequalifying for the state tournament next month in that event.

In Gonzaga Prep Bowl Pups news, Team 1 continues to hold onto first place in Division 1 of the Spokane High School Youth Bowling League. New personal bests were set by Madeline Adams and Rachel Price, both bowling 138s. Cody Hough had the boy's high score of 203 and Savannah Roark the girl's high score of 166.

Last, but not least, wrestling team placed first at the GSL district tournament on Saturday. The team had 6 champions and will send 9 wrestlers to next weekend's regional tournament at Mount Si High School. Colton O'Connor, Zach Frazier, Sam Kinkaid, Lawrence Jackson, Harrison Crooks, and Noah Holman all won their respective divisions.

 
JANUARY 29

Amid finals week, Bullpup boys and girls basketball scored high marks on the basketball court. At home vs. Lewis and Clark, Aylah Cornwall scored 24 points, and Gillian Bears had 17 in a 62-51 win. The boys followed it up with a 63-49 victory over LC. Dylynn Groves led the way with 27 points. Then, at North Central on Friday, the girls rolled with a nearly 50-point win, 70-22. Aylah scored 20 and Gillian added 14. In the nightcap, the boys avenged a non-league loss to NC earlier in the season with a 58-51 win to break the tie for second place in the GSL standings. Henry Sandberg scored 18 in the win and Nate Christy added 14 points.

Wrestling also had two matches last week. On Thursday, they lost to Cheney in a tightly scored dual. Big pins still came from Lawrence Jackson, Noah Holman, William Jackson, and Hughes Niyonyishu. On Friday, the team beat Ferris behind pins from Will, Noah, Anson Ball, Adrian Fernandes, Sam Kincaid, Esai Vigil, and Wren Jackson. The freshmen also placed 2nd as a team overall at the freshman league championship on Saturday. Esai Vigil and Logan Bright placed first in their weight classes, while Anson Ball and Sean Brown placed second.

In competitive snowboard news, Drew Falcone competed at the WhiteFish Ski Resort Slopestyle Rail Jam last week and finished second! He is part of the Snowboard Northwest competition team at Schweitzer and participated in freestyle events as well as terrain park events throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.
 
JANUARY 22

Last week, Bullpup academic teams found some big wins. Varsity History Bowl placed 2nd in the Eastern Washington Winter Competition at East Valley on Saturday. Junior David Thorp placed 1st in the varsity division History Bee and sophomore Mason Hatzke placed 3rd in the JV Bee. Gonzaga Prep qualified for nationals in Washington, D.C., and both David and Mason qualified for nationals in the Bee.

The Debate team competed at the Southside Invitational at Shadle Park High School over the weekend. Junior Simon Yan placed 1st in varsity Extemporaneous Speech, 3rd in Public Forum Speaker Points, and 5th in Informative Speech. Sophomore Ian McComas placed 3rd in JV Lincoln Douglas Debate. Freshman Berkley Hestdalen placed 5th in varsity Public Forum speaker points.

In sports, boys basketball beat Ridgeline 81-61 behind a pair of 23-point performances from Henry Sandberg and Dylynn Groves. Ryan Jackson added another 21 points and was recently named SWX Student-Athlete of the Week. Last Friday vs. Central Valley, the Pups won by 28 points on Nate Christy’s game-high 15 points and another 13 from Dylynn Groves.

Girls basketball team also swept the week. In the Ridgeline win, Aylah Cornwall scored 19 points, Olivia McIntyre had 15, and Gillian Bears had 12. They followed it up with their best defensive team effort against Central Valley. Bears led the way with 19, while McIntyre contributed 17, and Cornwall had 14.

Wrestling lost to CV on Thursday, but Will Jackson and Noah Holman both won their matches. Over the weekend at the Rumble in the Valley tournament, the team placed 4th overall out of 12 teams. Holman won his weight class, Will Jackson placed 2nd in his, and Sam Kincaid, Jordan Dantzler, and Lawrence Jackson placed 4th in their respective weight classes.

Last but not least, the Bowl Pups had a great day at Valley Bowl over the weekend. Addison Sundin, Madeline Adams, and Emma Keller all moved their personal bests up by at least 30 pins over their averages. Cody Hough had a new personal best of 233 to go with his scores of 223, 212, and 180 to be the first Bowl Pup this season to roll an 800 series and a Pup best of 850. Other highlights: Savannah Roark topped 200 for the first time, rolling a 203 and followed it up with another personal best of 223. It was the second-highest game in league play on the girls side.
 
JANUARY 16
Last week, Bullpup basketball got things started with strong wins over Cheney High School. The boys won 71-59 led by Nate Christy’s 18 points and 17 from Dylynn Groves. The lady Bullpups beat the Blackhawks 63-39. Gillian Bears led the way with 25 points and Quinn Peterson added 10. On Friday vs. Mt. Spokane, the boys lost despite a team-leading 15 points from Henry Sandberg. The girls notched their sixth straight with 61-43 dub against Mt. Spokane. Aylah Cornwall scored 19 points and Gillian Bears had another nice night with 16. Both teams resume league play January 16 vs. Ridgeline.

The wrestling team was on the mats twice last week. On Wednesday at University, Stephen Dougherty and Bryce Jordan had pins, though the team fell short. In their loss against Mt. Spokane, William Jackson and Hughes Niyonyishu pinned their opponents. The team takes on Ferris January 17 at home.

In other news, Knowledge Bowl competed at East Valley last week. The Varsity 1 team is currently in 1st place in the league and JV 1 is in 6th place out of over 25 teams in each division that encompasses eastern Washington and North Idaho. Their next meet before Regionals is at Lewis and Clark in February.

JANUARY 8
Over the weekend, nine Bullpups bowled personal high games: Kevin McArdle Silvers, Madeline Adams, Emma Keller, Ella Romano, Savannah Roark, Julieanne Miner, Reese Lempka, Evelyn Nadalsky, and Tiernan Waggoner. Highlights from this weekend's match included: Kevin McArdle Silvers bowled his first 200 game, rolling a 203. Savannah Roark led the lady Bullpups with a 177 and Julieanna Miner with a 166. Parker Ebel led all bowlers' rolling a 222. Great job to all our Bowl Pups.

On Friday, the debate team competed at the Conway Classic, hosted by Gonzaga University. There, Elle Dahle placed second in speaker points and first in Varsity Public Forum debate with partner Jacob Berger. Simon Yan placed first in speaker points and took second in Public Forum Debate alongside teammates Ari Everitt and Gabby Gamon. In JV events, Samuel Miller placed first in speaker points for Lincoln Douglas debate and Julieanna Miner placed second. In Public Forum debate, Mikey Wende placed first in speaker points and Aiden James was second. Colton Green and Zack Canter placed first overall in the team event.

In wrestling news, the team lost to Ridgeline on Wednesday but secured wins from William Jackson, Stephen Dougherty, and Noah Holman. Noah carried that success into the weekend with a second-place finish in a field of 90 teams at the Rollie Lane tournament in Boise. This week, they are at U-Hi on Wednesday and at Mt. Spokane on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, boys basketball lost in double overtime to North Central. Dylynn Groves led the way with 23 points. Nate Christy and Henry Sandberg scored 13 apiece. Against U-Hi, the boys lost 53-59. On the girls side, the Lady Pups went 2-0 last week. Aylah Cornwall had 18 points and Gillian Bears and Belle Hernandez added 10. Against U-Hi, Olivia McIntyre went on a tear and had 23 points. JANUARY 2
Before Christmas break, Bullpup girls basketball notched two big league wins over Central Valley and Lewis and Clark. Against CV, freshman Quinn Peterson hit a game-winning shot at the buzzer to edge the Bears 77-75. In the LC game, Gillian Bears scored 14 points in the 57-32 victory. Over the break, the Pups hosted three teams in the Prep. In an overtime loss vs. Seattle Prep, Aylah Cornwall had 34 points. The Bullpups bounced back with a big win over Xavier Prep (CA) behind 14-point finishes from Olivia McIntyre and Belle Hernandez. They wrapped the week up with another victory— this time versus Bellarmine Prep—with a score of 64-32. Aylah Cornwall scored 30 points on 8 three-pointers and Mackenzie Prince added another 10.
 
On the boys' side, the Bullpups beat Central Valley 85-46 and lost a 56-58 nailbiter to Lewis and Clark before break. Last week, they traveled to Arizona to play in the Visit Mesa Basketball Challenge, going 3-1 for the weekend. In a close loss to Desert Mountain, Henry Sandberg scored 25 points as the Pups came up just short, 56-59. In the win versus Capital Christian (CA), Henry Sandberg had 17 rebounds, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Then, in their victory over Boulder Creek (AZ), Nate Christy had 20 points and Dylynn Groves added 18. The Pups finished off the trip with a 68-55 win over Bakersfield Christian. Henry Sandberg and Dylynn Groves each scored 16 points.
 
In wrestling news, Abby Itveldt took first place at the M2 Mallet tournament last Saturday and Will Jackson placed 8th in his weight class at the Tri-State. The team hosts Ridgeline tomorrow at 7 p.m.

DECEMBER 11
Over the weekend, the varsity wrestling team competed at the Inland Empire Invitational. There, Noah Holman placed 2nd, Will Jackson got 4th, and Wren Jackson finished 5th. The freshman wrestling team also competed —placing third overall at the Joe Ridlington Invitational than to a 1st place win from Anson Ball and 2nd place finish from Noah Martinet and Tevi Tuipulotu.
 
In basketball news, our girls and boys teams each secured two wins last week. Against Ferris on Tuesday, the girls won 67-60, behind Olivia McIntyre's 18 points and Gillian Bears' 16. The boys team followed that with a win of their own, 69-38. Nate Christy had 16 points on the night and Dylynn Groves added 12. On Friday night the Pups hosted Mead. The girls lost a close one, 47-43, but got 24 points from Aylah Cornwall. The boys notched another win 56-49. Henry Sandberg poured in 24 second-half points to erase a deficit and seal the win. The girls rounded out their 3-game week with a big win over Mt. Spokane, 68-53. Cornwall and Bears each contributed 15 points.
 
DECEMBER 4
Bullpup wrestlers got their season started last Thursday at the JV Jamboree. Congratulations to Wren Jackson, who placed first. In the Freshman Jamboree, Logan Bright and Anson Ball finished as champions. The team is at Mead on Wednesday and varsity wrestlers will compete at the Inland Empire Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Last Friday, boys and girls basketball were on the road vs. Chiawana. Although the girls lost to top-ranked team 67-63, fans were treated to a dazzling debut by freshman Aylah Cornwall, who had 36 points and 10 rebounds. The boys capped off the trip with a resounding win, 59-47. Henry Sandberg scored 20 points and Nate Christy added 14. We improved to 2-0 overall. Both teams play at Ferris tomorrow and will host Mead on Friday. See you all there!

Over the weekend, the debate team also competed in the Highlander Invitational at Shadle Park High School. Jacob Berger and Johnny Doree placed 2nd in Varsity Public Forum and Simon Yan placed second in Varsity Extemporaneous Speech. In the JV events, Henry Ehrbar and Henry Gilles placed 1st and 2nd, respectively, in overall speaker points.

In bowling news, our teams had a great showing this past weekend with six bowlers setting new personal bests. Parker Ebel rolled a 229 and Mathew Olarty a 208.
