hi I'm Christian der Gonzaga Prep class of 1986 I have been an English teacher here for nearly 30 years and I am the gun Mega Prep English department chair The English Department promotes the studies of literature and communication as vehicles for understanding the complexity of human nature in accordance with the Jesuit Mission the Departments strive to create reader writers speakers and philosophers able to think critically and reflectively and to act in responsible tolerant and enlightened ways so how do we really do that I could talk about our by any trips to England that are English Department sponsors I could talk about our book club I could talk about our literary magazine but I want to talk about it may not be as exciting writing we have an on-campus right which is a virtual all-you-can-eat buffet of writing assistance so and it says a student could after getting assigned a paper go down to our writing lab and sit with one of our writing are trained writing to or with an English teacher in the writing lab every day after school and be guided through an entire writing process and if a student can't get to our writing lab in person no problem we have the largest online writing labs in the United States among colleges and we're high school we have about a hundred and fifty writing tutorials that cover every topic you can imagine from research Style sentence grammar punctuation it's all on there for students to access whenever they need that little bit of extra help and we also have reading resources and so much more my favorite thing about the English Department by far the teachers we have they make literature come alive and they're passionate about literature I hope you get the chance to come to Gonzaga Prep and experience it for yourself
