Prep Alum & Dickens Scholar Honored by the QueenPrep alum Dr. Paul Schlicke(`61) has been invited to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens at a reception given by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. Dr. Schlicke, who has served as Chair of the Dickens Museum in London, is the author of Dickens & Popular Entertainment and editor of The Oxford Companion to Charles Dickens. Baseball Coach Inducted into Hall of Fame(Spokane, WA) Gonzaga Preparatory School is pleased to announce that Brian Munhall, Varsity Baseball Coach, will be inducted to the Washington State American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame on November 3, 2012. Brian has been coaching baseball for years and at Gonzaga Prep for the past 4 years.  American Legion Baseball has a rich history in Washington State stretching back to 1928. Over those 85 years thousands of young men have competed in summer baseball and many of them learned skills that propelled them into becoming leaders in professional sports, business, education, government and the private sector. The fundamental goal of the American Legion Baseball program is to teach all involved about the importance of becoming good citizens and to develop life skills. The ceremony and induction will take place in Seattle on Saturday, November 3, 2012. G-Prep Senior, Andrew Sauve was a nominee in the category of "The Arts" for his involvement in Band and for playing in the band at mass as well.
Prep Junior, Kathleen Sessions was a Chase Youth Award winner as part of a group award for the Spokane Guild School's High School Board - the board won the highest honor for a group, they received the "Judge's Choice" for the most outstanding of any of the groups nominated.
Sophomore, Katelyn Jentges was awarded the highest individual award for her involvement in the community. She was recognized with the "Judges Choice" for any individual nominated in any category.
Prep Junior, JJ Brown served as a co-MC and presenter at the event as she was selected to be the 2013 Chase Youth Commission's Vice Chair.

The all-volunteer organization is supported by individual and business donations." Perfect Latin Score By Sophomore Sophomore Phillip Thompson achieved a perfect score on the 2013 National Latin Exam. Only one half of one percent, .005, achieved this score. Worldwide 140,000 students participated from the United States, Australia, Canada, Guam, England, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, Taiwan, Indonesia, China, Philippines, Turkey, Japan, Germany, Iran, Zimbabwe and the Neterlands. Only 792 students out of the 140,000 attained this distinction. Congratulations to Phillip and to his teacher Jennifer Judge`89! Senior Pianist Places 2nd in StateSenior Angela Lee competed in the State Solo & Ensemble Competition, a WIAA competition, (April 27th). She was playing a Piano Solo, one of the most competitive events, and came in 2 nd place. That is 2 nd out of all piano solos in the state of Washington! Congratulations to Angela!
